I've been extraordinarily lucky: Traveling to more than 50 countries, guiding for 10 years in Alaska and Oregon, living in Central Asia and experiencing quite a bit along the way. All while managing to develop a few good stories. In between teaching, a 2 year old and a wife in grad school - I also started a new direction by starting a career in art. Here is art, travels and other aspects of my life.

7th Grade Spring Trip - Oregon Coast

I was reluctant to go on a week trip with a bus-load of 7th graders. Maybe reluctant is too nice of a term, but alas, after 5 days of great weather and no mishaps, it was not so bad.

Rain gear check the week before we left. Considering it was the Oregon coast, the assumption was there would be rain. I gave each kid a good douse to check their raingear.
The main focus of the trip was a day of sea kayaking trip at the mouth of the Columbia River.
The kids getting geared up in boats for the day.
Bird (or nerd) watching at Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach, Oregon. We were lucky to have the lowest tide of the year a real treat.
The adults on the trip - A good group and we managed to keep each other sane.
