I've been extraordinarily lucky: Traveling to more than 50 countries, guiding for 10 years in Alaska and Oregon, living in Central Asia and experiencing quite a bit along the way. All while managing to develop a few good stories. In between teaching, a 2 year old and a wife in grad school - I also started a new direction by starting a career in art. Here is art, travels and other aspects of my life.

Rogue River in the Spring

The Rogue River in March. Most people think we are crazy. I am glad, since that means less people on the river. The bottom line is: Not a single person on the river (even for a weekend), big flows, no permit needed and potential for good weather (or bad weather...) Anyway, a great trip.

Take a look at Johnny's web site for more REALLY good pictures.

Ben, Natalie and Chris punching the hole on the Rainy Falls sneak - the fish ladder. At 6,000 cfs it is a little bigger than one expects.
Cayenne is always a little annoyed on river trips.

The new boat is big and happily carries lots of gear.

Mule Creek Canyon and the Coffee Pot on a rainy day is quite a beautiful place. The flows made it very pushy and filled with hydraulics.

Shad getting "speed bumped" by the hole on the Rainy Falls sneak the Fish Ladder
Collecting fire wood at Horseshoe Bend
Priorities on Tyee Rapids.
Although a hike up to the beach, Horseshoe Bend is a great camp spot.
