I've been extraordinarily lucky: Traveling to more than 50 countries, guiding for 10 years in Alaska and Oregon, living in Central Asia and experiencing quite a bit along the way. All while managing to develop a few good stories. In between teaching, a 2 year old and a wife in grad school - I also started a new direction by starting a career in art. Here is art, travels and other aspects of my life.

Middle Fork of the Salmon

Considering we were homeless the summer of '06, living on the Middle Fork for a week was not a major set-back for us. Redbeard pulled a permit and we had a group of 12 headed down for a week. Awesome. What a trip. Can't to do it again.

Buzkashi - Craziest Game on Earth

I cannot take credit for these pictures. Since Amy is way more hard core than me, she is the one who went to multiple Buzkashi matches. The national game of Afghanistan and nearly as fanatical in the rest of central Asia. First they kill a goat, then it turns into a version kill the carrier as he tries to get the carcass into a hole / basket / end zone. Seriously, the point is not so much to get the goat but to hurt the person enough they drop the goat and then go after the goat. Truly unlike anything else on the planet. You should all read Ted Rall's description in his book "The Silk Road to Ruin." Brilliant.
