I've been extraordinarily lucky: Traveling to more than 50 countries, guiding for 10 years in Alaska and Oregon, living in Central Asia and experiencing quite a bit along the way. All while managing to develop a few good stories. In between teaching, a 2 year old and a wife in grad school - I also started a new direction by starting a career in art. Here is art, travels and other aspects of my life.

Gokyo-Ri... Sublime

We could not have arrived at a better time. The previous three to four weeks had be the heaviest monsoon in recent memory. The mountains remained hidden for weeks and all the tourists were either headed back (after weeks of no mountain views) or were playing catchup, since no flights came to Lukla for several days after we arrived. The bottom line, the best day we'd seen yet in Nepal arrived the mornig we woke to climb Gokyo Ri.

We felt a bit rushed since all indications of weather meant the clouds could move in at any moment. We felt as though we may not see a think if we doid not hurry. We asked how long it would take us to get to the top and our teahouse inkeeper said 45 minutes in Sherpa time and 2 hours in tourist time. Amy was to the top between 45 minutes and 55 minutes and I was just over an hour. In other words, we hauled ass to the top.

Victorious in several ways. We made it to the top in record time and we could actually see mountains. Yee Haaw!
